The Story:
Risto, 36, met “Sophie” on Instagram. She was bold, sexy, and asked for flirty photos right away. She sent one of herself — slightly explicit — and encouraged Risto to “send something back.”
He hesitated… but gave in.
Within minutes, Sophie’s tone changed:
“I have your photo. Pay €300 or I’ll send it to your friends.”
She even showed screenshots of his followers list.
Risto panicked, but instead of paying, he:
- Blocked her immediately
- Reported the account
- Warned friends and changed all privacy settings
- Didn’t respond again
No photos were ever sent out.
Lesson:
Sextortion is real. But silence and shame give scammers power. Acting fast and cutting contact is the best defense.
